Liberto during the Millionare Maker (Photo courtesy of PokerListings) |
It takes a toll on a player to be out in Las Vegas, playing 12-14 hours a day for 40 straight days. Most players would want to take a little break before jumping back into the pool (...most players being the key phrase). The tournament regulars that we know are a different breed, and they are coming out in droves.
Justin Liberto (Philadelphia, PA) wasn't a household name about two months ago, but he was well known here at Parx. Liberto went out to the WSOP with the intention to play in his first bracelet event, the $1,500 NL Hold'em Millionare Maker. The event attracted 6,343 players and drew the biggest buzz of the series, behind the main event. Justin saw some early success in the tournament, and as the hours turned into days, Liberto found himself super deep in the tournament. He had the entire east coast poker community pulling for him, as they watched him finish in fourth place for just over $400,000.
Liberto just walked into the clubhouse room to take his seat, but not before receiving many handshakes and congrats from friends and peers. Also new to the field was one of Liberto's biggest supporters throughout the final table, Asher Coniff (Brooklyn, NY).
